Regarding the appointment of Jacinda Ardern as Professor of Practice
Dear Professor Scott,
I read with absolute disgust that the University of Sydney has appointed Jacinda Ardern as Professor of Practice, where she will apparently be sharing her wisdom on empathetic leadership, social cohesion and civic trust.
You cannot be serious.
You are quoted as saying:
“Dame Jacinda led New Zealand through events of profound consequence and her leadership demonstrated that empathy and resolve do not compete with one another; each can strengthen the other.”
Appointing Jacinda Ardern to teach social cohesion is rather like appointing Jeffrey Dahmer to teach a course on wellbeing, or Jimmy Savile to run the local daycare centre. The sheer absurdity would almost be funny if the consequences of her leadership weren’t so hideously tragic.
My name is Alia Bland. I am a co-founder of Voices for Freedom, an organisation established in New Zealand in 2020. For years, we stood alongside tens of thousands of ordinary Kiwis whose lives were torn apart by the policies of Ardern’s government.
While the international media fawned over her kindness and compassion, we were dealing with the wreckage.
At the height of the Covid-19 response, we were receiving upwards of 1,000 emails a day. Desperate people reaching out because they had lost their jobs, their incomes, their homes and, in many cases, their will to live.
People nearing retirement were forced to sell family homes they had spent decades paying off. Some are still living in caravans five years later.
Marriages collapsed. Families fractured. Lifelong friendships were destroyed. People who had served their communities for decades were suddenly treated like lepers because they declined a medical procedure.
Some of the people who came to us had spent their entire lives believing New Zealand was a decent, fair-minded country. Watching that belief crumble, and seeing what it did to them, was heartbreaking.
I cannot adequately describe the anguish in those emails. The desperation of parents wondering how they would feed and house their families. The humiliation of hardworking people being marched out of professions they loved. The despair of people who had done everything society asked of them, only to discover that their own government considered them disposable.
And presiding over it all was Jacinda Ardern, smiling for the cameras and telling the world how kind New Zealand was.
Kind? For whom?
Her government deliberately created a two-class society. Ardern herself acknowledged it publicly. New Zealanders were excluded from workplaces, businesses, events and ordinary social life. People were coerced into accepting a medical intervention under threat of losing their livelihoods.
And those who suffered adverse reactions to the Covid vaccines faced another nightmare. We fought for vaccine-injured New Zealanders whose lives had been devastated by serious physical harm, while many struggled to have their injuries acknowledged or receive adequate support.
The government’s public assurances about vaccine safety deserve particular scrutiny. Officials knew about the myocarditis risk, including among young people. We have examined the records. Yet people raising legitimate questions about those risks were routinely dismissed and vilified.
The damage went far beyond lost incomes and broken relationships. An enormous number of New Zealanders lost faith in the very institutions they had trusted their entire lives. Government, health authorities, education, police and the media. That trust has not magically returned because Ardern has moved on to more prestigious surroundings.
While her government was busy marginalising people, we were building a nationwide support network to help them survive.
Voices for Freedom grew to more than 100,000 people on our mailing list, many representing entire families. More than 45,000 people signed up to our local groups across the country, which are still operational today in 2026. We established industry groups to help people fight for their careers, provided support through employment disputes and legal challenges, organised practical assistance and hand-delivered millions of flyers to households throughout New Zealand.
We did this while facing censorship, public vilification and government surveillance. Official records obtained since have confirmed that our activities and communications were being monitored and reported on.
Our volunteers gave everything they could to help people who had been abandoned by the institutions meant to protect them.
And now the University of Sydney wants to hold up the woman responsible for overseeing this period as a shining example of empathy and social cohesion?
It is sickening.
Professor Scott, did anyone at your university bother to speak with the people whose lives were destroyed under Ardern’s leadership before celebrating her appointment?
Have you spoken to the former nurses, teachers and police officers who lost their careers? The families who lost their homes? The people still suffering from vaccine injuries? The parents whose children no longer speak to them?
Or did you simply swallow the carefully cultivated international image of Saint Jacinda, the compassionate leader who saved New Zealand?
I wonder whether you have considered why this internationally celebrated former prime minister now lives in Australia rather than the country she once led. The depth of hostility towards her among many New Zealanders should give you pause.
Because I can assure you, there is another side to that story. And there are hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders who live with the consequences.
I have no objection to universities studying Ardern’s leadership. In fact, I would encourage it. There is an enormous amount to learn from what happened in New Zealand between 2021 and 2023. Like, what not to do…
But presenting her as someone uniquely qualified to teach empathy, social cohesion and civic trust, without acknowledging the extraordinary human suffering that occurred under her leadership, is an insult to the people who paid the price.
We were there, Professor Scott. We saw what happened. We picked up the pieces. We are still picking them up.
Some of those people will never recover what they lost.
And the woman who presided over it all gets a professorship in empathy.
What an absolute disgrace.
Yours sincerely,
Alia Bland

You are amazing – keep the screws being turned on this evil pernicious mob and I will be emailing them myself as well
Wahh, this is saying it with a punch. Well done Alia, and many thousands of us are right behind you. Thank you so much for voicing how we are all feeling, still, and will never forgot.
It’s laughable, like you say, except for the tragic overlay of her and her governments legacy. Disgraceful in the extreme.
They will get their just desserts and it won’t be long, because transparency is coming and the peoples gift of seeing what is BS and what is Real. So these heinous crimes committed against us will be paid for. In the meantime, again, thank you for a fantastic letter.
I was called to Sydney by my Son who was dying of stage 4 cancer. I had a return flight & Jacinda Ardern locked NZ down. I was stuck in Sydney. My flights, all flights were canceled.
My superannuation stopped because I didnt come back to NZ, I couldnt. MSD sent an email to say I’m choosing to stay in Australia & get my Son to pay my living expenses. My Son was dying & died.. whilst all Govt departments were working leisurely from the comforts of their homes, I was struggling to pay my way in Australia & payments at home in NZ.. I am in my 70’s..
Forced to be vaccinated against my will before I could travel back to NZ & forced into a motel complex with aggressive pacific Island security guards..
My cat died after 6 months of me being away with a broken heart…
What a traumatic time in our lives…
Love it, thank you for taking the time to write it.
“Yep, yep, that’s exactly what it is” :)
What a ridiculous appointment!
Brilliant letter! Right woth you! Thanks for being a True voice on my behalf!
Warwick
Ardern is a Global Socialist/Communist. Her rise to power has been orchestrated and her obsequious and imperious faces shape-shift between smiles and frowns as her stage presence demands. Such nice photo opportuinties with Prof Scott but I see clouds in his horizon , forecast through the crossed arm poses of both dignitaries, as they practice their empathetic facial masks in front of the audiences. Beware Dames wearing unctuous rictures masquerading as Smiles.
Absolutely brilliant and succinctly written. I hope millions view this account of what is true and right. No doubt her placement at this time (NZ Elections) is planned for purpose of being seen by NZers in Aus who are eligible to vote will vote for the Marxist Lefts. It genuinely scary. I watch everyday to see what’s going on with Polls etc. Im voting for the man with experience. Thank you VFF for all that amazing work you do. Mind blowing letter. Wow!
Alia , well done you’ve presented the sentiments of so many marginalised New Zealanders . On our travels we are always amazed at how positively overseas people view the advertised portrayal of our past Prime Minister , marketing is truly her calling and a career she should continue pursue! On the other hand I admire enormously what VFF have done for New Zealand
Brilliantly written Alia & agree with everything you’ve said in there. Thanks so much for all the hard work you’ve been doing these 5+ years.
couldn of said that better myself. Thank you for speaking on behalf of all of us
Well said…
Separating the dying from their loved ones was her cruel and unusual kindness..
It takes a perverse mind to go that far.
Normal people would try and minimise their involvement and not speak of it..
Then to pretend it never happened.
Not this one, she reprises her role daily.. She really enjoyed her Covid tyranny..
it was the best thing in her life.. Just sick.
What Alia shared is TRUE as we watched & heard so many people
Hurt & badly touched by the Adern government! THIS WAS TOTALLY WRONG & CARELESS!
Thank you so very much Alia I can’t tell you how much your direct common sense speaking the truth has made for me…….keep up your amazing work
So well and truthfully on total point Alia, I feel your emotion in my heart and gut. Thank you. You are speaking for all of us and I’m truly grateful for that.
How absolutely unbelievable that monstrous woman can have the audacity to preach to people on those topics. She ruined our country alright and we will pay the price now for a very long time (not to mention the personal losses incurred). How stupid is the NSW University! Swinging with the “woke” and “indoctrinated” – I feel for Australia – they’re already in alot of trouble and all our Aus friends can’t stand her!
Thank you Alia.. I was one of the many who experernced it first hand and suffered these very same consquences. I could not have describe what happened more clearly. God bless you . Kind regards,
Richard Jefferies.
On behalf of us all, Well done
Alia!!
Very well written. Exactly what happened.
I will never forget her smug smile on TV saying we would have a 2 le el society.
Yes one could study her from both sides.
But how does she flaunt herself as a professor also fails me.
Good luck Australia!!
So well said Alia! Thank you.
Meantime the NZ Herald completely ignores the response of 600,000 views to your letter, whilst giving John Minto and his “about 12” supporters challenging the Prime Minister’s Christchurch stabd up, in front page online news. Priorities of mainstream media!
John Minto must just about be in one of those Geriatric racing vehicles.
Brilliant letter Alia, well done for finding the time to construct such an impacting letter.
AWESOME THANK you sooooo much for continuing the fight against the injustice we as New Zealanders suffered under “Adern’s ” not leadership “DICTATORSHIP ” The only place she should be is in prison … not that that could every repay her crimes ( that is impossible ) but at least she would no longer be able to present herself in such a way as to find new “suckers” to promote her agenda. POWER to “TRUTH”
Right on the button.
Brilliant, and professionally restrained.
Thank you alia .
We agree with you 100%
Everything is absolutely true..
Our families s were destroyed by
Jacinda adern and will never be the same again.
She should be held to acountt for her I’ll treatment of all new Zealanders
WE WILl NEVER FOrGET
The emperor still walks around in no clothes and gets away with it. Wake up world Adern is a brand based on lies and gaslighting.. she has no empathy or compassion, just a public relations team backed by the MSM spreading misinformation. We all know the truth and one day I hope she and other enablers will be held to account. Just too hear sorry I got some of it wrong would be a step in the right direction.
How do we sign this Alia
Beautifully composed, truthfully accurate fact by fact, thank you for your effort & coming forward once again
Yes Ardern is no more than a political appointment & working for the powers that wish to collapse Western democracy inclusive of their economies as part of the plan
No surprise that Ardern has “found home” in a “socialist organisation/educational industry” where she can continue her “comrade cry” as she did in her youth, a leopard doesn’t change its spots
I guess the best we can hope for is the awareness of the true Ardern becomes known in Australia & she is ousted once again, quickly before she does more damage, this time to Australia’s youth
Ardern is a Cancer, no less, & deserves scorn rather than reverence
Well said. A government who created division, promoted hatred towards the ‘river of filth’, fired much needed hospital and firefighting staff among others and put this country in more debt per individual than any other western country. This is the person to teach…. God help you and those she takes under her wing. Hope she’s over her cocaine habit.
Well written. I can’t believe how some of our ex-pm’s go on to cushy jobs like this. Helen Clark was no different working for that unelected body the UN.
The UN took over from The League of Nations with the express purpose of reducing conflict in the world for which they have been as useless as tits on a bull but instead have got involved in every facet of our lives. I am not sure where we as New Zealanders stand with their push to control any pandemic response. Their last response over COVID was worse than useless in actual fact criminal.
From a pure blood.
Alia and all, well done the stone thrown in the septic pond by JA continues to ripple. I lost a parent through what was pounded into the aged care operators this year and continues to be. Rolled out each month in the form of the needle and its contents. I could go on but the research continues.
So proud of you guys.
Pete
Fantastic and bold feedback . Love your work :-)
Thank you Alia, spot on! Quite unbelievable..
Great letter Alia, let’s hope there’s enough push back to get that position taken away from her!
Beautifully said Alia. As always you stand strong and represent your devoted followers very well. I am sickened to hear that the University of Sydney appears to have completely disregarded this woman’s totalitarian rule and actions against NZ Citizens, throughout the ‘Covid’ era. With a smile, she openly and publicly encouraged, hostility, coercion, discrimination and division; destroying peoples relationships, livlihoods and health and wellbeing. The vast number of New Zealand citizens, will never forgive or forget the incomprehensible damage she created in our beloved country. I hope that Australians rise up, and demand her removal from this post at the University of Sydney.
Well said.
This is a fantastic letter. So true. My stomach turned violently as I read her ‘appointment’ article. Remembering the horror and magnitude of harm from her and her government. Lived experience. The impacts continue to ripple today. It’s appalling and my body shudders with disgust to imagine her teaching about leadership or empathy. What the actual fk… Thank you so much for writing this to set the ‘story’ straight. Please Australia keep her but know it is at your peril.
Excellent Alia. Keep up the good work. The betrayal of the people of New Zealand by Jacinda Arderna must not be forgotten.
Thanks Alia for calling out exactly as it happened in NZ.
We left NZ in 2023, and vowed never to return after the tragic mess Ardern and her government left behind.
Unbelievably, we watch from afar as her number one henchman Chris Hipkins prepares to present himself as New Zealand’s next Prime Minister if he wins the election on November the 7th. This is the cad who stood at Ardern’s side, looking like a recalcitrant, guilty little school bully, while he threatened to send out vans to terrorise the unvaccinated with his minions bearing needles.
A note to good young Australians. Think carefully before placing your trust in clever egotistical ‘spinners’ like j a
Wow! What a powerful and profound letter. As said, we lived it, we suffered from it in many different ways, and our country is still recovering. This appointment is an insult and I certainly won’t forget.
The NZ media glorified Jacinda’s appointment to the university. Thank you Alia for putting the truth out there. Jacinda The traitor that fled NZ..
Dexter.
Well done Alia, I still can’t believe that evil b***h was given a Damehood.
The good news is she is in Aussie and not here
My mother died two months after she was pfizered for the second time. I could not attend the funeral because jabby shut down the entire country.
She is a disgrace.
And yet people are still going to vote for hipkins as if he’ll be any better?
Anyone who still thinks that there is any level of honesty in any politician in any country in the world are a waste of oxygen.
This letter is a remarkably narrow and one-sided assessment of Jacinda Ardern’s leadership, written by the co-founder of an organisation opposed to New Zealand’s COVID response.
It reduces an entire prime ministership to vaccination mandates, conveniently ignoring the extraordinary public-health emergency confronting governments worldwide.
COVID vaccines saved lives. New Zealand’s response kept deaths comparatively low. Were mistakes made? Absolutely. Did some people suffer genuine hardship? Yes. But difficult public-health decisions made to protect millions are not evidence of cruelty or tyranny.
Importantly, New Zealand’s independent Royal Commission examined the pandemic response and found it was broadly effective, while identifying mistakes and disproportionate restrictions.
And what of Ardern’s other achievements? Her exemplary leadership after the Christchurch massacre, rapid firearms reforms, child-poverty initiatives, increased minimum wages, expanded parental leave and compassionate crisis leadership?
Not a mention.
Instead, we get inflammatory comparisons to serial killers and sweeping accusations unsupported by any balanced examination of her record.
A prime minister’s legacy deserves scrutiny, not selective outrage.
The University of Sydney has appointed someone with exceptional real-world experience of leadership under pressure. You don’t have to agree with every decision Ardern made to recognise her qualifications.
Empathy isn’t about pleasing everyone. Leadership sometimes means making difficult, unpopular decisions in the interests of the wider community.
This statement is a classic example of, “There are none so blind as those who will not see; none so deaf as those who will not hear”.
I’m not a kiwi but I visited NZ several times before and in the aftermath of Dame Andern’s leadership. A shadow of its former formidable self. Broken by policies that were only ever going to lead to the destruction of the foundation of its civilised bedrock. Andern stands for the utopian delusional woke tide that has now largely been exposed for what it really was but sadly also caused an equally toxic right wing backlash. She is an evil snake. Off to the gulag with her.
Exceptional expose of this evil tyrant & the stupidity of those who buy into this propaganda.
John O’Neill – I was born [1944] & brought up in Ch-Ch., as the 4th child out of 12 .
i moved to Auckland in 1969 an met & married a beautiful young lady from Melbourne .
In 1978 we moved to Melb., + our 4 children , after being offered a senior position in my apparel manufacturing career
Back then, my Ch-Ch family was politically divided 50/50 Labor/National. that probably stemmed from Dad being a devoted hard working truck driver. [non union]
Over the years my Kiwi peers political % changed as we all aged & “grew up”. – Dads opinion of Labor mellowed & he became critical of their “management” . — Post 1917 out of the 9 family N.Z. voters, the Labor vote dropped to 2.
Jacinda was a disaster, I cannot recall hearing a positive remark – Her admittance to Australia was unfortunately due to the Trans-Tasman agreement combined with Australia’s lack of controlled borders. Worse- “She got a job”.
The Albo Labor Federal Gov. has a compulsive slogan. “migrants from anywhere welcome here”. [time for an election].
Thank you very much for your very truefull and well written letter re Arderns new job.
I despise Jacinda Ardern with a vengeance, the damage she and her labour cronies have done to NZ will I’m sure go down in history..
I wouldn’t even let her in the gate of the university….
