The Opportunity
Want to work with the team making a real difference in NZ? At Reality Check Radio, we cover the issues the mainstream media won't and challenge the voices they don’t. We believe in providing the full story so our audience can discern fact from fiction.
We’re looking for a Sound Engineer to join the RCR team. We are keen to speak with you about working remotely or joining the team at our new studio in Queenstown.
As a Sound Engineer, you will play a key role in maintaining the high standard and delivery of all RCR live-to-air content. You'll work on a variety of radio shows, working the live stream with hosts both in the studio and remotely.
This is an initial 3-month contract with the potential to extend to a longer contract.
Please indicate whether you are looking to work remotely and/or whether you can be based in Queenstown.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating and troubleshooting all of our audio live stream control systems and ‘live to air’ shows.
- Live sound operating, content creation, radio automation, and programme scheduling.
- Connecting with producers and editors to prepare content and oversee the production of pre-recorded content through to completion, from the initial idea to the eventual airing.
- On-air speaking may come into play if you have the requisite skills and abilities.
- Providing extra cover options for leave or sickness if required, and especially for emergency scenarios.
- Working with Hosts during both live and pre-recorded shows.
About You:
- Genuine interest and passion for radio and broadcasting.
- Ability to hustle and take ownership of your work.
- A team player with a fun, positive attitude who has experience working in a high-functioning, fast-paced environment with quick turnarounds.
- Adaptable and agile, with a growth mindset and embracing new things.
- Great communication and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
- Zero-rated stress levels.
Ideal Candidates Will Have:
- Extensive knowledge and experience in sound control systems for live shows and studio environments.
- Proficiency in live sound operation, content creation, and radio automation.
- IT networking skills.
- Strong production values with experience in creating promos and imaging for live radio.
- Proven hands-on experience with scheduling and playout systems, as well as multi-media platforms.
Benefits
- An opportunity to work with a passionate team dedicated to making a difference.
- Competitive contract-based compensation with the potential for extension.
- A dynamic and supportive work environment.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Be part of a movement making a significant impact on New Zealand’s media landscape.
