New Zealand’s booming organic export industry is facing a major challenge from the proposed Gene Technology Bill, and Scott Lawson from Organics Aotearoa New Zealand (OANZ) isn’t holding back. Speaking with Paul Brennan, he warns that the Bill, if passed without key amendments, could undermine organic farming by allowing genetically modified organisms (GMOs) to spread uncontrollably. He says it threatens New Zealand’s reputation as a GE-free food leader, and puts jobs, exports, and trust on the line.
