We are looking for a Sub-Editor to join our Editorial Team.
As Sub-Editor, you will play a critical role in ensuring editorial quality, coherence, and clarity in our news service. Your expertise in reviewing and editing materials will enhance overall content accuracy and readability, contributing to effective communication and brand reputation. This role supports audience engagement and loyalty by delivering polished and error-free content that resonates with readers.

This will be an initial 3 or 6-month contract with the potential to extend to a longer contract with longer hours.
Key Requirements:
- Writing, rewriting, editing, and proofreading text for our daily RCR Bites news service.
- Editing reports and press releases for clarity and accuracy.
- Ensuring adherence to house style, including tone, punctuation, spelling and grammar conventions.
- Identifying inconsistencies and errors in text and resolving ambiguous passages.
- Checking copy for meaning, tone, and sense.
- Writing headlines, picture captions, and story summaries.
- Liaising with producers and editors to ensure content quality.
- Ensuring that stories are accurate, legally compliant, and meet publication standards.
- Assisting with content planning and editorial calendar management.
About You:
- Exceptional English writing skills.
- Excellent standard of grammar and spelling.
- Meticulous attention to detail with a keen eye for spotting typos and quickly rewriting poorly composed copy.
- Proficient IT skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills.
- Highly organised.
- General knowledge is useful for dealing with a wide range of content.
The Ideal Candidate Will Preferably Have:
- Proven experience in Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
- Solid prior experience as a Sub-Editor or Journalist.
- Creative flair and adeptness at designing attractive page layouts.
