Programming & Production (Advertising, Arts & Media)

25 hours + a week

The Opportunity:

Want to work with a team making a real difference in New Zealand? At Reality Check Radio, we cover the issues the mainstream media won't and challenge the voices they don’t. We believe in providing the full story so our audience can discern fact from fiction.

We are looking for a Producer to be responsible for producing one of the following shows:

  • The Dialogue with Dieuwe de Boer
  • The Crunch with Cameron Slater
  • Real Talk with Rodney Hide

As Producer you will identify and book appropriate people for your show to ensure your host has enough guests and variation to create a full show each week. Content must be responsive to current headlines and issues to provide a well-rounded and interesting listening experience.

The Producer will have a keen interest in the big issues, culture, current affairs, politics and news – and a nose for who’s who in various sectors and topic areas. Importantly, they will also have an open mind and a strong commitment to free speech and democracy.

In all cases, RCR aims to expand the breadth and quality of public discourse and cross-partisan divides and encourage greater understanding and acceptance of different perspectives. Above all, RCR is committed to the truth.

This is an initial 3-month contract with the potential to extend to a longer contract.

About You:

  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Understanding of political and social issues in New Zealand.
  • Keen interest in current affairs, politics, culture, and news.
  • Open-mindedness and a commitment to free speech and democracy.

The Ideal Candidate Will Preferably Have:

  • Experience in journalism, radio production, newsrooms or a related field.
  • Experience in booking guests for radio shows or similar media platforms.
  • Knowledge of diverse perspectives and voices within New Zealand society.
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced media environment.

Benefits:

  • Opportunity to work with a dynamic team dedicated to quality journalism and storytelling.
  • Flexible working hours and remote work options.
  • Potential for growth and development within the organisation.
  • Be part of a movement making a significant impact on New Zealand’s media landscape.
